Last updated 27 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Standown Ltd ("Standown", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects personal data when you use the Standown website, the Standown iOS and Android apps, and our customer, driver, driver's mate and admin portals (together, the "Service").

3. Location data (app store disclosure)
- Customers. With your permission, we use your device location to show available vans near you and to prefill your pickup address. You can refuse location access and type addresses manually — the app remains fully usable.
- Drivers and driver's mates. While you are on an active job (from accepting it until you complete or cancel it), your device shares its location with Standown and with the customer for that job so they can see you approaching and receive an accurate ETA. Location sharing stops when the job ends. We do not track workers between jobs.
- Precision. We request precise (GPS) location only. Coarse location is accepted where the device offers it, with reduced accuracy.
- Background collection. The current release collects location only while the app is in use (foreground). If we later add background tracking for drivers, we will ask for that permission separately and update this policy first.
- Who sees it. A customer sees the assigned driver's live location for their own active job only. Unclaimed jobs do not expose customer addresses to workers; full addresses are revealed only after a job is claimed and each reveal is logged. Standown admins can view worker location for operational safety and dispute handling.
- Retention. Live location pings are retained for up to 30 days for safety, dispute and complaint investigations, then deleted or aggregated. The pickup and dropoff addresses on a booking are retained with the booking record (see section 8).
- We never sell location data and never use it for advertising or for building profiles unrelated to your job.
4. Notifications (app store disclosure)
- We send service notifications only: booking confirmed, driver accepted, driver arriving, job completed, receipt or invoice ready, document or verification outcome, support replies, and payout statements for workers.
- Channels are email, push notifications (web push and, in the native apps, Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging), and optionally SMS where you have enabled it.
- To deliver push notifications we store a device push token and the platform identifier. Tokens are deleted when you disable notifications, sign out or delete your account.
- Refusing notification permission does not limit any other part of the Service — you will simply see updates in the app instead.
- You can change or turn off notification categories at any time in your profile notification preferences, or in your device settings. Marketing messages, if we ever send them, require separate opt-in consent that you can withdraw at any time.
5. Legal bases (UK GDPR Article 6)
- Contract — creating your account, pricing, dispatching, completing and invoicing jobs, and paying workers.
- Consent — device location, push notifications, SMS and any marketing. You can withdraw consent at any time in the app or your device settings.
- Legal obligation — tax and VAT records, right-to-work checks, responding to lawful requests.
- Legitimate interests — fraud prevention, platform safety, dispute resolution, service improvement and security monitoring, balanced against your rights.
- Special category / criminal-offence style data — where verification documents reveal such data, we rely on substantial public interest (fraud prevention) and process only what is necessary.
6. Who we share data with
- The other party to your job — a customer sees the assigned driver's name, vehicle, rating and live location; a driver or driver's mate sees the customer's first name, phone number and full address for that job only.
- Stripe — payment processing. Card details are entered on Stripe and never stored by Standown.
- Google Maps Platform — geocoding, routing, distance and map rendering.
- Supabase / hosting and database infrastructure — storage, authentication and file storage for the Service.
- Email and messaging providers — transactional email and, where enabled, SMS and push delivery (Apple APNs, Google FCM).
- Professional advisers, insurers and authorities — where legally required or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We do not sell personal data. We do not share personal data with data brokers or advertising networks.
7. International transfers
Our processors may store or process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, with additional safeguards where needed.
8. Retention
- Booking, invoice and VAT records: 6 years plus the current financial year (UK tax law).
- Live location pings: up to 30 days.
- Verification documents: for as long as the account is active and up to 12 months after closure, unless a longer period is required to defend a claim.
- Support chat, complaints and ratings: up to 3 years after resolution.
- Push tokens and marketing preferences: until you withdraw or the token expires.
- Security and audit logs: up to 24 months.
9. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any right, email Info@Standown.co.uk. We respond within one month.
Account and data deletion. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing Info@Standown.co.uk from your registered address, or from the profile screen in the app. We delete or anonymise your data except records we must keep for tax, legal or dispute reasons.
You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113) if you are unhappy with how we handle your data.
10. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to customer and worker data is restricted by role with row-level database security, admin actions are audit logged, address reveals are recorded, and worker bank details and verification documents are stored in restricted storage accessible only to authorised staff.
11. Cookies and similar technologies
We use strictly necessary cookies and local storage for sign-in sessions, security and remembering preferences such as your unit (km/mi) and onboarding state. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
12. Changes
We will post any change here and update the date below. Material changes affecting location, notifications or payments will be notified in the app or by email before they take effect.
